Lakhdatar Expands Tilda Facility to 100,000 Tonnes to Meet NTPC Demand

Commissioning Production Line 3 in Chhattisgarh

To support the surging demand from national thermal power plants and the Government e-Marketplace (GeM), Lakhdatar Green Energy has successfully commissioned its newest production line at our flagship Tilda facility in Chhattisgarh. This expansion guarantees the uninterrupted, bulk supply of agricultural residue pellets to help utilities meet the NTPC co-firing mandates.

With this newly operational capacity, Lakhdatar Green Energy increases its regional throughput to 100,000 metric tonnes per year, providing national power generation hubs with secure access to high-GCV mustard husk and sawdust pellets.

Tackling the Supply Chain Challenges of Biomass Logistics

One of the major bottlenecks in co-firing is the seasonal availability of agricultural residues. By locating our facility in Chhattisgarh's high-yield agricultural belt, Lakhdatar ensures a steady procurement pipeline of mustard husk, paddy straw, and sawdust. Line 3 features advanced high-output pellet presses that operate continuously throughout the harvest off-season.

Securing Long-Term Price and Supply Stability

For independent power producers (IPPs), fuel security is critical. Raw biomass price fluctuations can destroy operating margins. Lakhdatar's scale allows us to buffer seasonal price swings, offering GENCOs long-term fixed-price supply agreements. This expansion enables us to store up to 25,000 tonnes of raw agricultural waste safely, mitigating winter logistics bottlenecks.

State-of-the-Art Moisture and Ash Controls

To meet NTPC's strict specifications, the expanded Tilda line integrates automated rotary drum dryers and pellet coolers. Every batch of pellets undergoes laboratory analysis to ensure GCV stays above 4,000 kcal/kg, moisture is strictly under 10%, and ash content remains below 10%. This prevents boiler slagging and protects power plant infrastructure.

A Green Industrial Future for India's Grid

As the Ministry of Power transitions from voluntary to mandatory co-firing targets, Lakhdatar Green Energy is actively preparing to expand further. The Tilda expansion is a major step in our roadmap to establish 300,000 tonnes of annual capacity across Central and Eastern India by 2028, fueling India's green industrial revolution.
